Sabina, 20×20 cm | 15 Art Heroes in 15 Days

Sabina was created as part of 15 Art Heroes in 15 Days, an experimental series in which I explored the work of fifteen artists I admire by creating one small painting inspired by each of their artistic approaches.

This piece was made while studying Sabina von Essen’s distinctive use of rich texture, dreamlike landscapes and tiny solitary figures. A small rabbit sits quietly at the centre of an imagined blue-green world, surrounded by layers of paint that shift between landscape and abstraction.

The painting became both an exercise in stepping outside my own visual language and a record of what happens when admiration is explored through making.
