Peel Me a Grape is an almost abstract study of a cluster of grapes, enlarged until the fruit begins to resemble bodies, shadows and overlapping fragments.

The title comes from Mae West’s famously indulgent line, “Beulah, peel me a grape,” in the 1933 film I’m No Angel. Playful, sensual and unapologetically demanding, the phrase has since become synonymous with the desire to be spoiled. Through its deep blue and purple tones, the painting explores that same sense of pleasure and excess—turning an everyday fruit into something intimate, seductive and larger than life.
