In the Mood for Red is an almost abstract study of cherries, enlarged until their shapes begin to feel more like bodies, gestures and fragments of a memory.
The title was inspired by In the Mood for Love and its atmosphere of longing, restraint and desire. The painting explores the way memories can become inseparable from colour, how a particular shade, taste or fleeting moment can bring back the feeling of someone or somewhere long after it has passed.
